Phoneme Review
Week 5 - Day 3
Find the /aw/ Flashcards
First, review the /aw/ flashcards with the students. Then, mix the flashcards up (face down for older students, face up for younger students). Call out the flashcard you want the student to find. This can be done individually, or in pairs as a race.
Match the /aw/ Flashcards
Place two sets of /aw/ flashcards face down in a grid formation in front of you. Turn over a flashcard and read the card. Then, use your memory to match the flashcard to its copy. If you find a match, leave the cards face up. Play the game until all flashcards are face up.
Sight Words “was” and “sure”
Make several copies of the sight word. Use blue tack to stick the sight words all around the classroom. Let the students go around the room and hunt for the sight words. If they can find one and read it correctly, you can give them a sticker (you can also give stickers to students who make a good effort).
Lesson Duration: 15 mins
Materials Needed: 2 sets of /aw/ flashcards, many copies of sight words “was” and “sure” flashcards
