Phoneme Review
Week 3 - Day 4
Long OO Segmenting Practice
Say a word that contains the target phoneme. Practice tapping (on your hand, arm, or jaw) as you say each of the phonemes contained in the word. Have the students count the phonemes. After they have determined the number of phonemes in the word, use an Elkonin box to segment the word into its phonemes. For example, “pool” would be segmented as: “/p/-/oo/-/l/”
Sight Words “water” and “cried”
Have students practice writing the sight words individually with the sight word tracing worksheet. Once students have completed this worksheet, have them read the sight words back to you and try to use the words in a sentence.
Lesson Duration: 15 mins
Materials Needed: Elkonin boxes, sight words “water” and “cried” tracing worksheets
